The repair process is as follows: Step 1: Stop the machine and allow it to cool down. Turn off the power and wait for the gearbox temperature to drop to room temperature. Clean the surface oil and food residue, and locate the leak point. Step 2: Disassemble and inspect. If the leak is from the drain plug, check if the plug seal is aged or loose. Tighten the plug or replace the seal. If the leak is from the gearbox cover, remove the cover bolts, remove the aged gasket, clean the sealing surfaces of the cover and gearbox (ensuring no impurities or scratches), replace the gasket, apply sealant, and tighten the bolts evenly in a diagonal sequence (to avoid uneven force leading to poor sealing). If the leak is from the output shaft oil seal, disassemble the gearbox output shaft coupling, remove the old oil seal, check the output shaft surface for wear and scratches. Minor scratches can be repaired with sandpaper. Replace the oil seal (choose a high-temperature resistant, oil-resistant type), apply grease, install, reset the coupling, and tighten it. After repair, add gear oil of the correct specifications, ensuring the oil level is within the range indicated on the oil level gauge. Start the equipment under no-load operation and observe for any leaks. For example, in a twin-screw extruder, the gearbox cover leaked oil. After replacing the sealing gasket and applying sealant, the leak was completely resolved, and the gears ran smoothly without any abnormalities.


Repair methods for bearing oil leaks. Oil leaks in screw bearings and motor bearings are common in dog food production machines. The core repair steps are replacing the oil seal and checking bearing wear: First, for screw bearing leaks, disassemble the screw coupling and bearing housing, remove the bearing, clean the oil and residue from the bearing housing, and check for wear and abnormal noises. If the bearing is severely worn, it needs to be replaced; otherwise, only replace the bearing oil seal. Apply grease to the new oil seal, insert it into the bearing housing sealing groove in its original direction, install the bearing and bearing housing, tighten the bolts, and add an appropriate amount of high-temperature grease. Second, for motor bearing leaks, disassemble the motor end cover, remove the bearing, replace the motor oil seal, check the bearing wear, add suitable grease, reinstall the end cover, and tighten it. After repair, start the equipment and check the bearing temperature (normal operating temperature ≤80℃) and vibration to ensure there are no leaks or abnormalities. For example, in a single-screw extruder, the motor bearing was leaking oil; after replacing the oil seal and adding grease, the bearing temperature returned to normal, and there was no leakage.


Daily lubrication and maintenance of the gearbox and bearings in a dog food processing machine. Proper lubrication and maintenance are key to preventing oil leaks and component wear: First, select appropriate lubricants. Use medium-load industrial gear oil (viscosity grade 220#) for gearboxes and high-temperature grease (temperature resistance ≥180℃) for bearings. Do not mix different types or brands of lubricants. Second, change lubricants regularly. Change gear oil every 1500 hours of operation, top up bearing grease every 500 hours, and completely replace it every 1000 hours. Third, control oil levels and quality. Strictly adhere to the oil level line when adding lubricant to avoid overfilling. Regularly check oil quality; replace it immediately if it turns black or contains impurities. Fourth, regularly check component condition. Check the sealing, temperature, and vibration of the gearbox and bearings every 200 hours of operation to anticipate potential problems. For example, a feed mill that strictly adhered to the recommended gear oil and bearing grease replacement schedule significantly reduced gearbox and bearing oil leaks and extended component lifespan by 30%.
